Main, Court streets close for holiday festivities
AUBURN – Independence Day festivities will close streets around Auburn all day Monday.
Downtown traffic will be detoured around the Main Street all day to make room for the L/A Riverfront Blues Festival, according to Officer Norm Bilodeau.
That festival will close Main Street between Festival Plaza and Court Street all day. Police will detour traffic away from Academy Street, as well.
“If you are in Auburn and you want to get to Lewiston, go across the bridge in New Auburn or the Veterans Bridge,” he said.
Police will also close off parts of Court Street later in the day so residents can enjoy the Liberty Festival fireworks. The road will be closed to traffic from Lake to Haskell streets and between Turner Street and the Longley Memorial Bridge from 7:30 p.m. until the fireworks are finished. Both are popular places to watch the fireworks, Bilodeau said.
