FAYETTE – Ruth E. Jackman, 83, a resident of Fayette, died Saturday, July 2, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, in Farmington.

Ruth was born July 10, 1921, in Livermore, the daughter of George M. and Lena (Rose) Bamford.

She was married to Lloyd C. Jackman in Fayette on May 3, 1941, by Louise Flagg. Lloyd passed away on July 11, 1993.

Ruth worked many years at the Livermore Falls Shoe Shop.

Among her many interests were painting, which she took classes on at age 79, gardening, flowers and crafting. She was especially fond of her friends, family and pet dogs. She will be sadly missed by many.

Survivors include two brothers, Stanley Bamford of Readfield, and Robert Bamford of Fayette; one sister, Mildred Robinson of Monmouth; and her children, Berchard and wife, Susan Jackman, of North Jay, George and wife, Ada Jackman, of North Jay, and Lois and husband, Luther Gray, of New Gloucester. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by brothers, Mellon, James, Guy and Clifford Bamford, and sisters, Edna Jackman and Helen Small.
