As a retired dairy farmer and also a sports enthusiast, I was in the Lewiston area for the national Holstein convention held in Portland and Gray.

I happened to come across Kalle Oakes’ column on June 25, and I suggest that if he has no passion for all sports, he would be better off writing a women’s clothing column or about the life span of a gnat.

Sports – professional or amateur – span all countries and ages and form a common bond.
