FARMINGTON – Alan “Wayne” Cote, 60, of Farmington, died Sunday morning, July 3, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington, after a five-year battle with cancer.

He was born May 25, 1945, in Rumford, a son of the late Norman H. Cote and Mary R. (McKenna) Cote Decker. He was educated at St. Joseph’s Parochial School and was a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1965. While at Farmington High School, he was on the football team and participated in track and field.

Over the years, he was employed with G.H. Bass, SAD 9, Burns Well Drilling and RANOR, before retiring in April 2004 due to his declining health.

He was previously married to Nancy Foss and Phyllis “Ruth” Frost.

His pride and joy were his grandchildren, and his garden.

In addition to his soul mate and spouse for more than 17 years, Judith A. Frost of Farmington, he is survived by their children, Michael Cote of Farmington, Ronald Cote and his wife, Paulette, of Farmington, Kathleen Frost of Auburn, Phillip Frost Jr., and his wife, Josie, of Wilton, William Frost and his wife, Bobbi Jo, of Industry, Keith Frost and his friend, Jamie Wing, of Strong, and Kevin Frost of Farmington, their grandchildren, Ashlee, Andrew and Austin Cote, Kristi and Sara Welch, Matthew and Nathan Davis, Morgan Nichols, Savannah, Harley, Brayden and Bradley Frost, and his greatly anticipated 13th grandchild due to arrive soon; three brothers, Kevin Cote of Montandon, Pa., Robert Decker and his wife, Christie, of Wilton, and Lawrence Decker of Farmington; a special uncle, Lawrence “Fred” McKenna of Rumford; and several nieces and nephews

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Cyrus Decker.
