LISBON – This is a notice for all who are interested in playing tackle football for the Fall 2005 season. To be eligible you must be going into the 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grades in the f.

The recreation department will be holding two registration nights. The first will be July 6 at the Rec. office from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The second night will be August 3 from 3-7 p.m. In order to have your child registered, you will need to have a copy of their most recent physical (this can be a school or doctors physical). The child should sign the Interest Sheet in front of the main office to allow us to plan accordingly for the number of participants and to send out any information regarding the registration date above.

Tennis tourney slated

YARMOUTH – The 16th Annual Betty Blakeman Memorial Tournament, Maine’s largest and most successful tennis event, will be held on the weekend of July 15-17.

Headquarters for the tourney will be the Yarmouth Tennis Courts. Held in conjunction with the Yarmouth Clam Festival, the event is a fundraiser for the Maine Cancer Foundation. It attracted 193 players in 2004.

Competition will be held in Men’s Open Singles and Doubles, Women’s Open Singles and Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Men’s 55-plus Singles. For entries and more information, contact tournament director Don Atkinson at 772-7350. Deadline for entries is July 13 at 10:30 p.m.
