FREEPORT – Edwin McCain, known for his heartfelt, honest lyrics and soulful, jam-intensive concerts, will perform Saturday, July 9, as part of the L.L.Bean Summer Concert Series. He will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. with his band, which includes guitarist Larry Chaney, bassist Scott Bannevich, drummer Dave Harrison and saxophonist Craig Shields.
Described as an acoustic rock performer, McCain is actually a well-rounded talent who incorporates a variety of musical genres into his songwriting. His albums provide a mix of rock with a hint of jazz and blues. Popular singles from his early recordings include “Solitude” and “I’ll Be.” His current album, “Scream and Whisper,” includes the single “Say Anything.”
McCain and his band have earned a reputation as one of America’s hardest-working bands, often performing more than 300 nights a year.
Besides its rigorous touring schedule, the band has also appeared on TV programs, including “The Tonight Show,” “The View,” “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” “Live! Regis & Kathie Lee,” and “Donny and Marie.”
Saturday’s concert will take place in L.L.Bean’s Discovery Park, located just outside the L.L.Bean flagship store.
Concerts are open to the pubic and free. They are canceled in the event of rain.
