FARMINGTON – Honeybee is a little old lady with lots spunk who came to the Franklin County Animal Shelter as a stray. Many people, the staff said, assume that she is still a pup because she is so much smaller than the average Chow Chow. She is, however, about 10 years old.
She is in good health and spirits for her age, loves to go for walks (and is great on a leash) and always seems to have a big smile on her face.
She does have some dominance issues with other dogs, especially if her companion is hogging all the attention or playing too rough. However, going to a home with another dog is certainly not out of the question.
She can often be found snuggling with Milo, the other older dog at the shelter, and Honeybee seems to love company. The staff feels she would be wonderful with a quiet, respectful dog who wouldn’t invade her space. She would be best suited to a home with older children who’d be less likely to climb or hang on to her and possibly injure her accidentally.
New dogs at the shelter include a male black lab mix from Farmington, a female black lab from Jay, a neutered male pug from Livermore Falls and a female tan pit bull mix from Avon.
If anyone would like to make a donation to the shelter, the staff is always in need of cat toys, dog toys, animal beds, canned cat and dog food, dry cat chow, dry dog food, bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, pen, copier paper and other office supplies.
