LEWISTON – Artwork by 72 adults and children, all students of local art teacher Mercedes Gastonguay, will be featured at the Atrium Art Gallery at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. The display of oils, ink and pencil drawings, pastels, scratchboard, and watercolors opens Friday, July 15, and continues through Aug. 19.
Students work from still lifes in the studio, on-location landscapes, photographs, and works by well-known artists. The exhibit features portraits, landscapes, still lifes, wildlife studies, seascapes and floral studies.
A free public reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. July 15. The Edward Little Music Association will provide beverages.
The Atrium Art Gallery is at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College, 51 Westminster St. For more information call the college at 753-6500. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday.
