OLD TOWN (AP) – A small fire Friday evening at the Georgia-Pacific tissue mill was quickly brought under control, the company said.

The “dust fire” broke out on one of the paper machines, said spokeswoman Robin Keegan. There was no damage to the machine and no one was injured.

“They’re washing it down,” Keegan said. “They called the city (fire department) as a precaution and they’re in cleanup mode right now.”

The mill, acquired by Georgia-Pacific in its 2000 purchase of Fort James Paper, has 450 employees and produces tissue and market pulp.
