House Majority Leader Glenn Cummings missed the target when he took aim at the people’s veto in an article July 6 in the Sun Journal.
Cummings joins a growing group of elitists in Augusta who feel that the people should have no say in government. This is evidenced by the fact that after the people voted twice against special rights for homosexuals, the bill was passed anyway. Then the people voted not to change bear hunting laws and a bill to do so was introduced anyway.
If Augusta can not stay within its means, then the people have an obligation to step in and change things.
I think that the representative from Portland has forgotten who he works for.
