LEWISTON – Ralph E. Taylor, 82, of Auburn, died Saturday, July 9, at Central Maine Medical Center after a period of failing health.

He was born in Auburn, on Feb. 15, 1923, the son of Irvin and Grace (Bean) Taylor. He was educated in Auburn schools.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In later life, he enjoyed traveling and spending more than 14 years wintering in Florida.

On Oct. 10, 1942, he married the former Simone Berthiaume who survives him of Auburn.

Prior to his retirement, he was a member of Local 340 Teamsters, as a truck driver for many years. He also worked for International Paper Co. as a truck driver.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas and his wife, Lois Taylor, of Citrus Springs, Fla., and Michael and his wife, Carol Taylor, of Otisfield; two daughters, Pamela Miller of North Haverhill, N.H., and Patricia and her husband, James Virgilo, of Portland; one brother, Richard Taylor of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Nellie Dyer of Auburn, and Joan and her husband, Stephen Russell, of Dover, N.H.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
