RUMFORD – The Ladies in Line dancers, who have been meeting at the Rumford United Methodist Church, will not meet for the rest of the summer.

Society session

PERU – The Peru Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Rockemeka Grange Hall in Peru Center. All are welcome.

Dance day

MEXICO – The Mexico Public Library Summer Program will present “Dance Day” at 10 a.m. today for children 2 to 5 years.

Stories “Duncan the Dancing Duck” by Syd Hoff and “Angelina Ballerina” by Katharine Holabird will be featured.

Children ages 6 to 11 at 1 p.m. will read the following stories: “Brianna, Jamaica and the Dance of Spring” by Juanita Havill and “Jocelyn and the Ballerina” by Nancy Hartry.

PERU – The Demerritt Cemetery Association will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Town Office. Plans are being made for a discussion on space availability in existing lots.

There will also be a discussion about removal or repair of existing trees and bushes in the cemetery. The association is also looking for new members and will welcome anyone who has a lot in the cemetery.

RUMFORD – The veterans’ advocate will not be at the CareerCenter, Lowell Street, between 9 a.m. and noon Thursday, July 14. His next visit to Rumford will be Thursday, July 28.

Women’s classes

DIXFIELD – Women in the Outdoors chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will offer classes Saturday, July 16, at Webb River Valley Sportsman’s Club for women ages 14 and over. Choose from mountain biking, archery, hiking/backpacking, scrapbooking, camping, tree stand hunting, basic shotgun, tracking, outdoor photography, letterboxing, and map and compass.

Cost is $40, which includes classes, equipment use, lunch, subscription to NWTF Women in the Outdoors magazine and free gifts.

Vacation school

MEXICO – Mexico First Baptist Church, 20 Roxbury Road, is inviting children in the River Valley area to a Vacation Bible School taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 18 to 22. The theme is “Construcion Zone – Building Character Like Jesus.”

The week will be full of challenges, including Design Center (Bible drama), Hard Hat Area (games), Brown Bag Bistro (snacks) and Do-It-Yourself (crafts). Call 364-8712 or 364-8850 for more information or to enroll.
