SALEM, Mass. (AP) – Two 77-year-old men have been charged with stealing designer suits from Marshalls stores in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, then attaching the price tags to less expensive suits and returning them for refunds.

Costa Limberakis, 77, of Cambridge, pleaded innocent on Friday to felony larceny and false pretense in a consumer transaction. Efstathios Pantsidis, 77, of Arlington, pleaded innocent in June to the same charges. Both were freed on personal recognizance.

Prosecutors said the men bought dozens of suits from Marshalls, some off the clearance rack for as little as $40, and others that were designer suits costing up to $300.

They took the suits home and cut the tags off the expensive suits. They attached them to the cheap suits and returned them for far more than they paid, authorities said.

Investigators from the Framingham-based chain’s security department believe the pair did this at least 80 times, netting more than $16,000.

Limberakis is due back in court Aug. 30; Pantsidis on Sept. 15.
