LEWISTON – Alice M. Beal, 75, of Mechanic Falls, died Monday, July 11, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Oakland, on July 10, 1930, the daughter of Cecil and Margaret Davis.

She worked at several shoe shops and was a member of Gray Post 86 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Carroll, of Mechanic Falls; two daughters, Helen Cunningham of Augusta and Nancy Bosse of Leeds; four sons, Ray and Russell Staples, both of Pittsboro, N.C., Allan Staples of Readfield, and Dann Staples of West Orange, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Marie Bossweel of Calton, Calif.; three stepsons, Dale, Mark and Chris Beal, all of Jacksonville, N.C.; three sisters, Stella Brown of Gardiner, Sondra Oaks of Searsport and Connie Dyer of Augusta; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Wayne Staples; a sister, Doris Reed; and a brother, Charles.
