POLAND – Joe Baker ripped a two-run double in the fifth inning to pace Bessey Motors to a 8-1 rout over Mechanic Falls in American Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Chris Henderson chipped in for Bessey (9-3) with an RBI double. Baker also scattered five hits in seven innings of work on the hill to notch the win.

Joe Douglass led Mechanic Falls (5-10) with two hits on the day, while starter Jacob Pelletier suffered the loss.

Monmouth 13, O’Brien Oil 4

MONMOUTH – Tavis Hasenfus belted two hits and had four RBIs to lead Monmouth to a 13-4 victory over O’Brien Oil in Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Mark Wade led the balanced effort for Monmouth (13-1) with three hits overall, while Wally Rines and Brian Bisson contributed with two hits apiece.

Starter Justin Denbow scattered three hits in five innings of work to record the win.

Dan Cowing suffered the loss for O’Brien, giving up 11 runs in the first three innings.

Monmouth put four on the board in the first and added five more in the fifth.
