FARMINGTON – Georgia A. Belanger, 96, of Chesterville, died Monday evening, July 11, at the Orchard Park Living and Rehabilitation Care Center, Orchard Street, Farmington, where she was a resident.

She was born July 7, 1909, in Jay, the daughter of Zeb and Maude (Richards) Bernard. She was a 1927 graduate of Jay High School and was married to George Belanger. He predeceased her on Aug. 25, 1973.

For 30 years, she drove the school bus for the town of Jay. She also worked with special needs children at the Chesterville School, currently the site of the Chesterville Town Office.

She enjoyed driving her Chevy Caprice Classic to visit with family and friends, and especially enjoyed going to local dances.

She is survived by her son, Terry and his wife, Julia, of Chesterville; a special friend, Avon Roberts of Rumford Community Home; three step-grandsons, Rick Gibbs of Lewiston, Keith Gibbs and his wife, Wanda, of Auburn, and Brian Gibbs and his wife, Alice, of Derry, N.H.; three stepgreat-granddaughters, Priscilla and Brianna Gibbs of El Paso, Texas, and Patricia Gibbs of Winslow; sisters-in-law, Mabel Belanger of Jay and Florida Plaistead of Orchard Park, Farmington, formerly of Jay; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.
