FARMINGTON – Helen F. Brown, 84, of Farmington, died early Monday evening, July 4, at her home in Farmington.

She was born, Dec. 3, 1920, in Jay, a daughter of Harold and Susan (Whittemore) Kyes. She graduated from Wilton Academy in 1938.

On March 21, 1942, she married Robert A. Brown in Portland. He died Nov. 23, 2003.

As a younger woman, she worked at the Wilton Woolen Mill and later as a baker at various schools, restaurants and the Bear Springs Camp in Oakland.

She was a member of the Wilson Lake Country Club and the Maine State Women’s Golf Association. Besides golf, she also enjoyed bowling and flowers.

She is survived by a son, Timothy Brown and his wife, Mary Ann, of Strong; two daughters, Lynne Brown-Warner and her husband, Stanley, of Gardiner, and Beth Meader of Gray; two sisters, Evolyn Morison of Wilton and Katherine Mayo of Bedford, N.H.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with another expected in August.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Anita Hardy and Louise Reed.
