FARMINGTON – Marguerite Edna Latham, 78, of the Phillips Road, Weld, died Wednesday, July 6, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington.
She was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Arnold and Norma (Ziener) Hansen. She was educated in New York schools, became an X-ray technician and later attended the University of Maine at Farmington, graduating with honors in 1971.
On Dec. 21, 1946, she married David Latham in New York City. Her beloved husband died on April 16, 1985.
For more than 20 years, she was a teacher in SAD 9. Her influence on the lives of young people in Weld and the surrounding area will long be remembered.
She was a past worthy matron of the Weld Chapter O.E.S. and was a member of the Weld Congregational Church, having served as a deaconess and a Sunday school teacher. She was a longtime member of the Weld Historical Society and worked diligently for the betterment of the community through the society. She was also a field secretary for Olive Bonsey in the Public Health Department for a number of years.
She is survived by one son, David C. Latham and his wife, Nancy, of Weld; two grandchildren, Jennifer Latham and her fianc, Ben Hout, of New Orleans, La., and Jonathan Latham and his wife, Brandy Jo, of Hillsboro, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Connor Latham.
