Accidents
Lewiston

• Vehicles driven by James L. Dyer, 40, and Gertrude Angelides, 79, both of Lewiston, collided at 11 a.m. Wednesday on Bates Street. Damage to Dyer’s 2004 Humvee was estimated at $1,000; to Angelides’ 2005 Toyota, $2,000.

Auburn

• The dump body on a truck driven by Bradley I. Birney, 34, of North Turner, struck a traffic light stanchion at 2 p.m. Wednesday on Turner Street near the Wal-Mart entrance. Birney told police a mechanical defect caused the dump body to rise as he was pulling out of a construction site. Damage to the city of Auburn traffic equipment was estimated at $10,000. There was no damage to the 1992 Peterbilt, driven by Birney and owned by John Durgin, of Turner.

• Vehicles driven by Brianna L. Schaefer, 25, of Proctorsville, Vt., and Christopher L. Reny, 33, of Lewiston, collided at 10:04 a.m. Wednesday on Manley Road. Damage to Schaefer’s 1999 Oldsmobile was estimated at $3,800; to Reny’s 1995 Toyota, $2,500.
