Schedules for municipal elections, the length of City Council terms and bond issue votes will be the topics today when the city Charter Commission meets.
Commissioners are scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. in Room 302 of Auburn Hall.
Chairman John Cleveland said it should be the final working meeting for commissioners before they present their first draft to the City Council.
“Of course, we still have proofreading and drafting changes to do,” Cleveland said. “We’ve done a lot more than a cut-and-paste job here.”
The final draft of the charter should go the city clerk and the public in September. It’s scheduled to go to the voters on Nov. 8.
Cleveland said the commission is considering changing Auburn’s municipal elections to coincide with Lewiston’s, as well as staggering terms for city councilors and School Committee members.
