PARIS – Rain or shine, on Sunday, July 17, residents of the Maine Veterans’ Home, South Paris, along with their families will be treated to a cookout and family fun day.

“There will something for everybody,” said Pat Paar, activities supervisor. “We will have a barbecued lunch buffet, including all the fixings for a real home-style cookout, and plenty of ice cream treats for all.”

There will be music, entertainment, games for the kids (both young and old) and door prizes.

Each of the facility’s 90 residents will be able to treat their family members to lunch. The Fun Day, sponsored by the facility, coincides with the annual Visitors Day, which is held from 2 to 4 p.m.

“Visitors Day is a day when we invite the community in to see what our facility offers. It is a great opportunity to learn what is available here. As many of us face the need to place a loved one in a facility, the decision is much easier when we have an idea of what the setting is like rather than to have to shop’ for a facility when the need for placement is acute,” said Ellie Newell, admissions coordinator.

Tours of the home are available, and staff will be on hand to answer questions about the facility’s services.

The community is invited to visit the facility on Sunday. For more information, call 743-6300 or visit www.maineveteranshomes.org.
