LEWISTON – Armand A. Belanger, 84, of Lewiston, died peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, July 14, at his home.

He was born in Lewiston, on Jan. 6, 1921, the son of Joseph T. and Diana (Roux) Belanger and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was employed for 30 years at the Hill Mill and retired from the Bates Mill in 1985.

He served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Aleutian Islands from 1942 to 1945. He then became a military policeman before he was discharged.

He was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Cross Church.

A passionate gardener, he enjoyed sharing his produce and knowledge with others. He also enjoyed farming and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, the former Cecile Lessard, whom he married on June 12, 1948, of Lewiston; three daughters, Claire Pelletier and her husband, Raymond Leary, of Waterville, Pauline Rodrigue and her husband, Charles, of Farmington, and Jo-An Lantz and her husband, Don, of Milton, Mass.; his grandchildren, Aimee and Justin Dukess of Holmdel, N.J., Melissa Rodrigue of Columbus, Ohio, Matthew Rodrigue of Norwood, Mass., Laurie Rodrigue of Farmington, Timothy A. Langlois of Lewiston, Jenna Langlois, and Evan, Justin and Jacob Lantz, all of Milton, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Alaine and Miranda Dukess of Holmdel, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Lucien and Robert Belanger; and four sisters, Noella Violette, Therese Landry, Dora Fouquette and Simonne Belanger.
