LISBON -A total of 75 boats and 123 paddlers competed in Chief Worumbo’s Seventh Annual 6-Mile Androscoggin Fun Race, “Path of the Paddlers 2005”. The youngest competitor was Shantal MacWhinnie, 9, of Lisbon Falls, and the oldest, Chuck Jones, 76, of Auburn.

Three records were set during the event. In the Weekend Warriors category, the old mark of 45:30 was broken by Bob Dean and Tim Hladky with a time of 44:17. Sarah Quaintance and Dawn Krog smashed the Tamden Female category, 57:40; and in the Plus 100 (age total), Gordon Chamberlain and Craig Whiton established a new mark with a time of 52:42.

Other winners: Kayak Female, Nancy Kaplan and Eve Bethel (2 first place awards); Kayak Male, Dean Hall; Solo Male Canoe, Gerry Tancrede; Solo Female Canoe, Susan Amaral; Solo WW Paddlers, Lee Martin; Tandem Males, Rodney and Andrew McClain; Tandem Mixed, Elizabeth Donnell and Kevin Berry; Family, Scott Chase and Jessica Bakeman.

Sponsors for the boat race were Dr. John Bianchi, Dr. Paul Triggiani, Miller Hydro Group, Worumbo Mill Outlet Store and FPL Energy Maine Hydro.
