PINKHAM NOTCH – “Bears in the Woods” will be featured at 8 p.m. July 20 as part of the continuing Wednesday Night with a Range speaker series in the White Mountain National Forest.

Conservation educators from the U.S. Forest Service will present a slide show and discussion about human and bear behaviors and how recreationists and residents can help keep the bear population wild and free. Campers, hikers, picnickers and all who live near or enjoy visiting the forest are welcome to learn about the haunts and habits of bears and some tips on peaceful coexistence.

The programs are held at the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Pinkham Notch Visitor Center on Route 16, 11 miles south of Gorham.

Programs are free and all local residents, campers and visitors are welcome. Programs are about an hour long and include complimentary popcorn and time for conversation about the evening’s topic or any other national forest issue.
