LEWISTON – Russell Lee Keith, 90, of Auburn, passed away on July 18, at d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Durham, on April 3, 1915, he was the son of Harold A. Keith and Ida R. (Bowie) Keith. He was educated in local schools, and earned his living as a welder, having worked at Bath Iron Works and E.W. Bliss, taught welding at C.M.V.T.I. and retired in 1981 from NC Rainville Co.

During World War II, he was in the Navy from May 1943 through October 1945. He was stationed on the USS Kidd during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star.

He married Mary Irene “Peggy” Longley on Jan. 22, 1950, and they raised three children. She died on Nov. 4, 1978.

He then married Lois F. O’Hara on June 1, 1979, until she passed away Jan. 12, 1990.

He enjoyed repairing and building many inventions, gardening and working on projects around the house, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by one brother, Martin C. Keith of Auburn; a son, Russell A. and wife, Marilyn Keith, of Lewiston; four daughters, Margery and husband, Ronald Nadeau, of Greene, Rachel and husband, Kurt Campbell, of Turner, Joyce and husband, Edward Nichols, of Lewiston, and Jean and husband, Robert Collier, of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Russell B. Keith and Emily I. Keith, both of Lewiston, Scot A. Nadeau and Brian K. Nadeau of Greene, Sean M. Campbell of Madison, Wis., Erin and husband, John Varuolo, of Falmouth, Karl and wife, Brianna Collier, of Auburn, and Kelly Campbell of Turner; two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Varuolo and Ryan Collier; and many nieces and nephews.
