CHICAGO (AP) – Omar Infante hit a three-run homer to back Jeremy Bonderman, and the Detroit Tigers beat the White Sox 7-1 Tuesday night to stop Chicago’s five-game winning streak.

Infante’s sixth homer of the season gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the second inning. They scored four more off Jose Contreras with two outs in the sixth on five straight run-scoring hits, four of them doubles.

Bonderman (12-6) held the winningest team in the major leagues to one run and three hits in eight innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Chicago (62-30), which had won 11 straight against AL Central rivals, lost to Detroit for just the second time in 10 games this season.

After Infante’s home run, Contreras (5-6) retired 12 in a row before Chris Shelton’s double with two outs in the sixth.

Former White Sox All-Star Magglio Ordonez hit an RBI double and scored on a single by Rondell White. Ivan Rodriguez and Craig Monroe followed with run-scoring doubles.

Contreras, jeered as he left the field, gave up seven runs and eight hits in 5 2-3 innings, raising his ERA to 4.34. Bobby Jenks relieved and struck out Infante with a 99 mph fastball.

A.J. Pierzynski doubled and scored on a Juan Uribe groundout in the fifth for Chicago’s only run. Ordonez went 3-for-4, making him 5-for-7 in his return to Chicago.

Notes: Tigers closer Troy Percival is likely out for the rest of the season with a partial muscle tear in his right forearm. It is not known whether he will need surgery. … Rodriguez’s 57-game errorless streak ended when he threw wildly when Tadahito Iguchi stole second base in the second inning. Iguchi took third but did not score. … The last Tigers pitcher to get 12 wins this early in a season was Bill Gullickson in 1991, when he also did it on July 19. … Jenks struck out five in 2 1-3 innings.
