WHITE ROCK, N.M. – Robert ” Dave” Bennett, 64, a resident of White Rock, N.M., passed away Saturday, July 16, following a lengthy illness.
Always the ultimate adventurer, Dave rode the most out of life. He began his journey on a Harley, adding seats and buddy pegs as his family grew.
For a while, his ride was No. 64, a thrill-a-minute stock car at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine. His days on the West Coast included riding a sky-climber up and down the sides of water tanks, sandblasting and painting.
One of the best rides of Dave’s life was on an ornery quarter horse named “Red.” They drove cattle for a few ranchers in Washington state.
Toward the end of his ride, he added a holder on his Harley for his oxygen tank and the trips grew shorter.
May he continue his journey and enjoy new adventures.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon, of White Rock, N.M.; daughter, Gretchen Kimball of Buckfield; son, Graden Bennett of Washington; and daughter, Gabrielle Archuleta of Espanola; grandchildren, Jacob, Jody and James Kimball, and Jarek Boyd, all of Maine, Tonya, Clayton, Aubrey, Benjamin, Laura and Daniel Bennett, all of Washington, Nicholas, Quinn and Joseph Avila, both of Espanola, Rosemary Whitman of Texas, Peter Bennett of Washington, and Jim Bennett and Rebecca Perry of Maine.
He was preceded in death by his grandson; Jesse Kimball of Buckfield, Maine, and a nephew, Eric Bennett of Sultan, Wash.
