LEWISTON – A reception was held at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston in May to give out the 2005 scholarship awards to first-year recipients of the Lucien E. and Georgiana M. Martin Scholarship Fund. This year, a total of $99,625 (first year and renewals) was given out to students from the Lewiston-Auburn area.

The two students with the highest scores received their awards from their respective mayors.

The scholarship fund was created by Mr. and Mrs. Martin to encourage students of Franco-American heritage to continue their education beyond high school. To date, the Lucien E. and Georgiana M. Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to students of this community.

Applications for these scholarships are available from Jan. 2 through March 10 in the guidance departments of the local high schools or from ACA Assurance, which administers the funds. Completed forms must be mailed to ACA at the address indicated on the applications before March 15 in order to be considered.
