MONMOUTH – Richard P. “Rick” Benoit, 51, of Monmouth, passed away July 21, after a courageous battle with cancer.
The son of Armand and Theresa Benoit, he was born in Lewiston, July 2, 1954. He was educated in Lewiston/Auburn schools and worked at Bath Iron Works, was a truck driver and most recently worked at a local oil company.
He loved his last job and enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially fishing. He was also an active member of the 20M and Past Time Club, also a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was proud to be the donor for his brother’s bone marrow transplant in 2001.
He is survived by three sisters, Jean Hotham, Kathy and John Bergeron of Auburn, and Linda and Leo Landry of Greene; a daughter, Tracey Benoit of Lewiston; a stepson, David Short of Auburn; two grandchildren, Tony and Abby Benoit of Lewiston; and his longtime companion, Aline Fongemie of Monmouth and her children.
He was predeceased by his father; his mother, Theresa Benoit in November 1993; and his brother, Armand A. “Tony” Benoit in October 2003.
