Parker hall at Bates College will look like a new place when college begins again. The building is being put into first class condition, hardwood floors being laid throughout by A. A. Mitchell and practically all of the walls and ceilings are being replaced by A. J. Emerson, Messrs. Emerson and Mitchell were the contractors who built the new dormitory.

50 Years Ago, 1955

The parking lots filled up rapidly yesterday and early bird shoppers lined up at the doors of Dollar Day stores throughout the Twin Cities. The bargains, and there were plenty of them, went fast but there are still enough unusual buys left to satisfy the most thrifty shopper. William P. Tewhey, executive vice president of the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, said last night. “Yesterday was a very, very good Dollar Day, one of the best in history of Dollar Days.” Said Tewhey. “We are looking forward to an even better day today.”

25 Years Ago, 1980
