PARIS – Kimberly Stowell may not be getting married on national television, but she said “we’re still going ahead with it.”
Stowell and fiance Nick Raymond competed this week on the “Today” show to win a “hometown wedding” hosted by the show. On Friday morning, though, Mark Dale and Sarah Riley of Maryland were chosen by viewers to be married on the show, with wedding expenses paid by the television program.
Stowell and Raymond “were a little disappointed,” said Stowell’s mother, Brenda Sessions of Paris, “but they’re taking it well.”
After the live broadcast of the “Today” show from Bangor on Friday morning, there may be an addition to the guest list. Sessions said NBC reporter Gemma Waite asked to be invited to the couple’s wedding.
Before entering the competition, the couple had planned to be married in August of next year.
Stowell says she just feels lucky to have found Raymond. “Both of us had a really good time. We didn’t win,” she said, but so long as they have each other “we still haven’t lost anything.”
