FARMINGTON – The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival will give a performance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, in Nordica Auditorium, University of Maine at Farmington.
The Sebago-Long Lake Festival, under the direction of Laurie Kennedy, was founded in 1972 and ever since has been one of the premiere music festivals in New England. This year marks the 15th year of their performances in Nordica.
The performers will be Jennifer Elowitch, violin; Lily Funahashi, piano; Laurie Kennedy, viola; Varty Manouelian, violin; Susan Rotholz, flute; and Eliot Bailen, cello.
The program will open with a trio for flute, cello and piano by Carl Maria von Weber, followed by three short works for string quartet, and conclude with one of Shostakovich’s most popular chamber works. The program also features a 1987 work by Jon Deak, a prominent composer with a particular interest in “performance art.”
Admission will be $8 for adults and $6 for seniors. Children under 16 may attend free. Tickets will be available at the door only. The concert is sponsored by the Arts Institute of Western Maine. For more information, call 778-7136.
