School reunion
GREENWOOD – A Greenwood schools reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13. The Locke Mills School will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Swan and Bennett houses (Historical Society), 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and the Town Hall and Sunday School, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at the Town Hall.
Book sale
PARIS – The Paris Public Library’s annual book sale will continue in the old Paris Fire Station’s bays on Pine Street, South Paris, on Saturdays, July 30 and Aug. 6. A minimum of two pickup loads of books will arrive to replace the books sold on July 23.
The content of the individual sales will vary from week to week as donations from different sources are added to the stock.
The price for most hardcover books is $1; trade paperbacks generally sell for 50 cents and all mass market and children’s books cost 25 cents each or five for $1.
The sales will start 8 a.m. and end at noon. A bag sale will be held on Aug. 13. Proceeds will be used to purchase materials for the library’s children’s collection. Contributions are welcome. For more information, call the library at 743-6994 or e-mail [email protected].
Open house
GREENWOOD – An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday and July and August at the Greenwood Historical Building.
The Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, for the annual potluck supper at the historical building.
Bridge play
NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge played July 22 with the following winners: first, Woody Mercier and Bill Bowman; second, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements; third, Donna and Ozzie Swett; and fourth, Carol Curran and Suzanne Andrews.
Duplicate bridge is played at 9 a.m. every Friday at the Fare Share Coop Commons, 445 Main St. Parking and entrance are behind the building.
All bridge players are invited to learn to play duplicate bridge. They will be paired with another player and shown the differences for duplicate. For more information, call Les Buzzell at 783-4153 or Mimi Bell at 743-8081.
Art show
NORWAY – The second show of the Western Maine Art Group will open on Monday, Aug. 1, in the Matolcsy Art Center, 480 Main St. It will be a Member’s Show with different media represented. In addition, local rug hookers from Seven Gables Rug Hooking along with others who love rug hooking will feature their work.
There will be a wine and cheese reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5.
The show will run from Aug. 1 to 31. The gallery is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday or whenever the “open” flag is out.
