BOSTON (AP) – CVS Corp. has agreed to pay about $895,000 to settle a state investigation of the pharmacy chain’s Medicaid billing practices.

CVS charged the state Medicaid program full price for partially filled prescriptions, and for prescriptions that were ordered but never delivered to members of the state’s MassHealth program, Attorney General Tom Reilly said Monday.

When a MassHealth member fails to pick up a prescription, the pharmacy is supposed to return the Medicaid payment to the program within 60 days. Pharmacies receive Medicaid reimbursement through a computerized online billing program.
