LOVELL – The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at the Lovell Firehouse, Main Street.

Club trip

OXFORD – The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, in the Wal-Mart parking lot south side near Route 26 and carpool to the University of Southern Maine Arboretum, Gorham campus. Summer fair

PARIS – The South Paris Universalist Church fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, in Good Cheer Hall, Pine Street. It will feature clear meat lobster rolls to be served with coleslaw, chips, beverages, coffee and blueberry pie dessert for $6.50. Chicken salad rolls with the same type of extras will sell for $5.50. The luncheon will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Other tables will feature antiques and collectibles with Marilyn Hammond and Sandy Western, homebaked food and handiwork by Frances Johnson, Dot Major, Maxine DeRoche and Barbara Varney.

Gloria Twitchell will sell lunch tickets. Kitchen crew will consist of Shirley Miller, Jane Twitchell and Sally Brown. Press notices and luncheon tables will be handled by Marguerite Johnson.

Coalition meeting

BRIDGTON – The Lake Region Healthy Communities Coalition will meet at noon Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Bridgton Community Center, Depot Street. Guest speaker will be Mary Elizabeth Sullivan, executive director of Landmark Human Resources Inc. Members and guests are welcome. Lunch will be provided and donations will be accepted. Book sale

WEST PARIS – Friends of the West Paris Public Library will hold the annual book sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 6, at the library on Main Street.

Many donations have been received and will be offered along with books which have been weeded from the collection.

The annual event, held under a canopy on the library grounds, is a fund-raiser for the group and is used to support the library. A recent project was purchase of a new flagpole, which is expected to arrive soon and be installed in front of the building.

The Friends meet the second Wednesday of each month and welcome new members.

Society program

FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the American Legion Hall, Bradley Street.

The program, “The History of Local Trains,” will be presented by Ed Pierce. Refreshments will be served. For additional information, contact Director Nancy Ray at 935-4192 or 935-8076.
