LIVERMORE – A large piece of machinery used to remove limbs from trees was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon, Assistant Fire Chief Don Castonguay said Tuesday.
The operator of the logging equipment noticed smoke coming from under the delimber, owned by Lovewell Logging of Livermore, while he was operating it, Castonguay said.
The unidentified worker tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher but that didn’t work, he said.
When firefighters arrived at the site on Boothby Road across from River Road, the machine was fully engulfed in flames, Castonguay said.
Firefighters from Livermore and Turner responded and put out the fire using foam, he said.
