Geeks in Black’ tech awards announced

PORTLAND – MESDA, Maine’s Software & Information Technology Industry Association, announces the winners for its third-annual awards ceremony for Maine’s technology community. Geeks in Black: The Wall was the first event held at MESDA’s new Technology Center, located at Stock House Station in Westbrook.

Winners for this year’s Geeks in Black Awards are as follows: Angel of the Year, Mark Waite, president, Launch Momentum; CEO of the Year, Matt Hoffner, JobsInTheUS.com; Company of the Year, BlueTarp; Digital Diva, Crystal Morris, Cisco/A+ teacher, Lewiston Regional Technical Center; Digital Don, David Ezzio, president/CEO, Yankee Software; Gazelle Company of the Year, Quantrix; New Technology of the Year, Identity Cops.

The Interface Tech News Best of the Web awards also were presented at the Geeks in Black event. Winners of the awards were as follows: Arts & Entertainment, Mainemade.com; Corporate Image, Kennebunksavings.com; Non Profit, Bowdoin.edu; e-Commerce, Wickedwhoopies.com; and Best Overall Web site, Kennebunksavings.com

Founded in 1992, MESDA is the statewide trade association that enhances the software and information technology industry through programs designed to increase awareness of the industry, by developing community, influencing industry perception, and developing the work force.
