FRYEBURG – Rita Janet Ingargiola, 55, of Old Mill Road, Fryeburg, passed away on July 25, at her home, after a valiant 10-month battle with cancer.

She was born in Lewiston, July 25, 1949, the youngest of three children. Having lost her mother at the age of 13, her father later remarried, adding two precious sisters to the Filion clan. She was educated in Townsend, Mass., and spent many summers in Halifax and Plymouth, Mass.

She was a generous sprit who gave of herself fully to family, friends and community. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church for more than 20 years. As an active contributor to the diocese, she coordinated and taught CCD classes for 10 years. She further demonstrated her commitment to family and community through her decade-long management of the church food booth at the Fryeburg Fair. Under her shared guardianship, the food booth became the primary Church Building Fund annual fundraiser and tremendous source of Catholic community pride. She was also assistant manager of the Fryeburg Rite Aid for several years.

She is survived by John Ingargiola, her loving husband of 36 years; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Julie Ingargiola of Norwell, Mass.; her legacy will be carried on by her grandchildren, Alexis, 4, and Christian Ingargiola, 2, whom she treasured more than life; her sisters, Ruth Roberts of North Fryeburg and Ethel Laliberty of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a brother, Joseph Raymond Filion of Zion, Ill.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her mother, father and stepmother, she was predeceased by her eldest brother, Joseph Robert Filion.
