AUBURN – The Auburn Exchange Club has made a $1,500 donation to the Salvation Army for scholarships to Camp Sebago, the Salvation Army overnight camp.

The camp serves about 2,000 troubled kids a years and about 40 are from the Lewiston-Auburn area. The campers come from all over New England, but the majority come from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Each camp session lasts seven days and the camp can accommodate 335 campers a session. The parents pay a stipend for the campers, and if the camper chooses to, the Libra Foundation will pay for the session, otherwise they have to rely on outside camp scholarships and grants.

The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and make new friendships.

Exchange is made up of some 900 clubs and 30,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Exchange service programs include Americanism, community service, youth activities and its national project, prevention of child abuse.
