RANGELEY – A concert by Glenshane will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Episcopal Church. The concert will benefit the Giving Tree of Rangeley.

Jean and John Nesbitt have been an integral part of the Giving Tree of Rangeley since its inception. They were part of the business and education group which sat at a meeting at the Rangeley Inn with Donna Bauwens and Ron Pasek in 1987 and discussed the visible needs of children and the elderly in the Rangeley region.

The group grew and the organization was formed. The symbol of an “angel” was created based on the true story of the 5-year-old niece of Rodney and Lucile Richard who was run over by a truck in front of their house on Main Street at noon Christmas Day. Richard carved an “angel” with her likeness that has been placed on top of the Giving Tree every year at the lighting of the tree.

The Nesbitts have come back every two years to do a benefit concert for the Giving Tree. Tickets are $10 a person and may be bought at the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce. Reservations can be made by calling 864-5473.
