Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Public service

You know those ads that ask “Do you know what your kids are doing right now?” Well, I want the parents of Jon Cote, Bradley Flanders, Raymond Hayes and Nigel Cromwell to know that on the afternoon of July 19, in the middle of a downpour, they were helping an old lady move a tree that had fallen across the road.

They stopped, jumped out of the car quickly, carried that tree trunk to the edge and threw it. They also helped clean up the rest of the debris, the way one would hope they would.

I just wanted to offer my thanks. They made my day.

Eye care thanks

We want to thank people for donating to the tool bridge in Dixfield. We have them every year and this year, we collected $1,716 toward eye care for needy children and elderly.

We had a great time talking to folks from all around, enjoyed standing out there. It was fun. We do thank the police officers who were on duty for helping. Special thanks to the people who stood out there. I thank you all for the help of money that does good in life.
