I am very concerned about President Bush’s plan for Social Security reform. I can understand the young people’s concerns about investing their money wisely for retirement, but what they may not realize is that if the market drops, they will have nothing at a time when they need it the most – retirement.
People who are financially secure invest only a portion of their wealth, so if the stock market doesn’t do well, they still have resources to survive. When people do not have much, they cannot afford to take a chance of losing it all.
I feel that this administration isn’t responsible enough to care for the average person’s welfare.
We need to support our representatives in Congress to preserve our present Social Security system and make the necessary adjustments so that it will be even more capable of caring for our future generations.
