AUGUSTA – Anita R. Maxim, 57, of Winthrop, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 30, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
She was born in Ridge, Md., on June 7, 1948, the daughter of Robert and Kathleen (Klopot). She graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1966, where she was a cheerleader.
She grew up in Monmouth, and had waitressed at her mother’s restaurant, the Charcoal House, in Winthrop.
She married Dan Maxim in 1968, and they later moved to New Jersey for two years, before returning to Maine in 1975.
She raised her family, and started a day care out of her home.
She was currently employed at Wonder Awhile Nursery School in Winthrop.
Anita enjoyed art and crafts, gardening and watching the Red Sox.
Her pride and joy was with the birth of her first grandchild, Alyson Jay Marschall on July 17, 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dan Maxim, of Winthrop; her children, Eric Maxim and his fianc, Katy, of Durham, Tresa Maxim of Readfield, and Kristi Marschall and her husband, James, of Readfield; her mother, Kathleen Cammack of Winthrop, and her father, Robert Cammack, of Augusta; a sister, Patsi Letourneau and her husband, Robert, of Winthrop; a brother, Danny Cammack and his wife, Linda, of Greene; a granddaughter, Alyson Jay Marschall; several nephews, Shane, Craig, Matthew and Kevin; a niece, Renee; sister-in-law, Sally Gilley and her husband, Ken, of Winthrop; and her mother-in-law, Marjorie Maxim, of Winthrop.
