BUCKSPORT – Jake Marcum fired a three-hitter, striking out three and allowing two unearned runs, and the offense belted three home runs to lead Auburn Suburban to a 12-2 victory Sunday over Bucksport to win the Maine Senior Little League championship.

Marcum also excelled at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.

Bucksport jumped out to an quick lead in the first inning. After allowing a pair of singles to the first two batters, Marcum struck out the next two batters. The next hitter reached on an infield throwing error that allowed the two baserunners to score.

The score remained 2-0 until the top of the third. Eric Peru and Adam Redman ignited the Auburn Suburban offense with two home runs. Redman belted a grand slam that extended Auburn Suburban’s lead to 7-2.

Karl Bussiere added to the Auburn Suburban margin in the fourth with a two-run home run. Suburban would add two more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.

Ted Cook took the loss for Bucksport.

Matt Meserve, Mark Lutz and Bussiere finished the game with two hits apiece.

ASLL advances to the Regional Tournament in West Dedford, N.J., to face Pennsylvania on Saturday, Aug. 6.
