RANGELEY – Author Ruey Baldwin will present the story of the “Village of Flagstaff, Maine,” at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at the Wilhelm Reich Museum’s Conference Center on Dodge Pond Road.

Baldwin, the author of “There was a Land” and “Eleanor Flint Currier,” relates stories of former residents of the drowned village of Flagstaff. The village was drowned in 1950 by Central Maine Power Co. when it erected a dam at Long Falls on the Dead River in order to create a hydropower reservoir.

Baldwin interviewed many former residents of the village and has complied short storied about life in Flagstaff. Copies of “There Was a Land” will be available for purchase and she will autograph copies.

Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are available at the museum office and bookstore and the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call 864-3443 or e-mail [email protected].
