LEWISTON – Paul E. LeBrun Jr., 84, of Maison Marcotte a former longtime Webber Avenue resident, died Saturday evening, July 30, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion surrounded by his loving sisters, following a yearlong battle with a broken heart.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1920, the son of Josephine (Therriault) and Paul LeBrun Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Lewiston.

On Aug. 10, 1946, Paul and Liane “Lil” V. Vachon, now deceased and the cause of his broken heart, were married at Holy Family Church.

Mr. LeBrun served the the city of Lewiston for 25 years as a fireman and retired in 1978 as a lieutenant of Lisbon Street Station House. While a fireman, he also worked as a plumber for Wilfred Lachance, Maurice Daigle and Maurice Gauthier.

Not only did he serve the city, he also served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army as a tank commander in France, Rhineland, the Ardennes and Germany.

He was a member of the American Legion former Post No. 22 for many years.

He was a beloved member of the community, a member of Holy Cross Church, worked for Pinette Funeral Chapel on Lisbon Street during his retirement, and always looked forward to spending time with his four sons and their families.

He is survived by his four sons, Donald and his wife, Nancy, of Litchfield, N.H., Richard and his wife, Myrna, of Rochester Hills, Mich., Paul III and his wife, Linda Sue, of Saginaw, Mich., and Denis and his wife, Louise, of Greene; four sisters, Theresa St. Clair, Simone Buzza, Gilberte LeBrun and Camille (Cookie) Beauchesne; two granddaughters, Linda and Christine; four grandsons, Marc and his wife, Shannon, Tom, Richard Jr. and his wife, Kelly, and Mike; one step-grandson, LCPL Allen Monteith III USMC and his wife, Christina; two great-grandsons, Paul John and Christopher Jay; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving sweetheart, companion and wife of 57 years, and one sister, Yolande Pagurko.
