LAC MEGANTIC, Quebec – Leandre Godbout, 79, of Lac Megantic, Quebec, died July 29, with his wife and his sister by his side.

He was the son of Josephat and Laura Villeneuve Godbout.

He lived in Lewiston for 24 years, working as a woodsman and later as a hand sewer. He retired in Lac Megantic, Quebec.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rolande Bilodeau; his brothers, Emilien of Thetford Mines, Quebec and Claude of Auburn; one sister, Estelle Godbout Martel of Lewiston; a godchild, Claire VanHamlin of Petrosky, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews locally and in Canada.

He was predeceased by his parents; one brother, Benoit; and one sister, Laurette Godbout Leclerc.
