LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce is looking for participants for its next class of the Androscoggin Leadership Development Institute.

The next session will begin on Sept. 7. This three-month program has graduated more than 190 people in the past 13 years.

The program is limited to 20 participants to ensure interaction among the students and chances for all to participate. Because of the support from sponsors, including Lewiston-Auburn College and Central Maine Community college, costs remain at the same level as when the institute was started, $495. That cost includes materials and meals. There is some scholarship assistance available to assist members with the cost, if needed.

The leadership institute is appropriate for: a businessperson who wants to develop skills for use in the workplace or community, a volunteer or board member of a community organization, or a community member “with a desire to be involved to make a difference,” according to the chamber.

The program will be conducted by Steve Pecukonis, a professional facilitator. It will include sessions on community issues, effective communications, presentation skills, effective meeting management and conflict resolution/problem solving.

People can click on http://www.androscoggincounty.com/aldiapp.htm for a program application. People interested in participating should return the application to the chamber office, 179 Lisbon St. They also can call the chamber, 783-2249, for further information.
