PORTLAND – David Murphy had two hits and knocked in two runs Wednesday to pace the Portland Sea Dogs to their seventh straight win, an 8-6 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats.

New Britain (51-59) took a 1-0 lead in the first on Luis Jimenez’ RBI single, then Portland (58-48) got two in the home half before the Rock Cats tied it in the second.

The Sea Dogs made it 5-2 in the third, as Murphy knocked in Brandon Moss, who had tripled, then Jared Sandberg and Alberto Concepcion added RBI.

With Portland leading 6-3 in the sixth, New Britain tallied three, on hits by Denard Span and J.R. Taylor and two Sea Dogs’ errors, before Portland got a run in the sixth and eighth.

Reliever Jason Pearson (1-1) won, Daylan Childress (0-4) took the loss and Jim Mann notched his fifth save.
