LISBON – VFW Post 9459 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the post home, Route 196.

The agenda will include the annual Labor Day barbecue, Voice of Democracy program, Patriot’s Pen program, youth development and annual blood drive. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. For more information, call 353-2152.

A new scholarship program has been added – the VFW Veterans Tribute Scholarship, established for children and grandchildren of all veterans and active duty military personnel.

The Voice of Democracy contest theme is “How I Demonstrate My Freedom.” It is for students in grades nine to 12. First place national winner receives a $25,000 scholarship.

The Patriot’s Pen theme is “Who Are Today’s Patriots?” The contest is for students in grades six, seven and eight. The national winners receive a savings bond anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000. There are deadlines, so youths should contact VFW Post 9459 as soon as possible or call 353-2152 and leave name and number.
